The success of the PWS program is largely due to a positive approach and a super group of cooperative parents! Children at this age learn soccer skills quickly, but their main objective is to have fun! There is no better sport to do that with than PWS! As parents you can support this program and your child by reviewing papers when they are sent home. This will let your child know that you are interested in this activity and will also reinforce what they are learning. Refrain from negative comments about their effort or the efforts of their teammates. Criticism from parents frequently leads to a discouraged attitude toward sports, diminishes self-esteem, and creates conflicts with teammates.
Our classes will be aimed at individual improvement through praise and encouragement. We will emphasize good sportsmanship. The children will learn that every soccer position has an important role and they will play all the positions.
The one-hour classes are divided into four parts:
- Warm-up exercises
- Discussion and flannel board instruction
- Skill building instructional activities
- A scrimmage
Note: We will play on one Sunday afternoon at the end of the season, rain or shine. This Sunday Game Day allows the players to demonstrate their soccer skills to family members and friends who are unable to come during the week. Arrival for the first set of games is no earlier than 12:30 pm and the last set of games end no later than 3:15 pm. You are at the soccer field about 45 minutes to one hour that afternoon.
