God the Father, Part One
LIVING WHAT WE BELIEVE—The Apostle’s Creed is the title of a series that will be the focus of our worship messages from the end of January through Easter Sunday. Those raised in liturgical churches are accustomed to reciting a variety of creeds as a routine part of worship, while those raised in non-liturgical churches rarely recite them—but if there is one that the latter group says now and again, it’s most likely The Apostle’s Creed, the most commonly used, and sometimes even memorized. Creeds spoken week after week without meaning or understanding are often a dry and unfulfilling practice; but creeds positively express and affirm the biblical and theological foundation of our faith. Thus, the emphasis of this series will be on LIVING WHAT WE BELIEVE, that is, a practical application of our faith, beginning with a basic understanding of our head belief and moving it to the heart behavior that is the authentic expression of a faith manifested in real life.
This coming Sunday kicks off the series with a message simply entitled “God the Father, Part One”; it will focus on the opening phrase of the Apostle’s Creed: “I believe in God the Father Almighty….” Come listen to this message of faith, that you might then go forth and live it!
